| Planning for growth in 2008 |
|
The New Year seems to have continued where 2007 left off. Business confidence is said to be low, the city is jittery, major retailers have announced reduced profit forecasts and the Bank of England has left bank rates unchanged. Given all the doom and gloom that appears to be around, why is Ambient confident that 2008 will be a good year for business? A number of factors affect the wellbeing of the business community but outside influences often have an undue impact on the decision making process. During then second half of 2007, uncertainty was the order of the day. In politics we have seen the emergence of a new Prime Minister in Gordon Brown and a new leader of the Liberal Democrats in Nick Clegg. As a result, David Cameron finds himself the longest serving leader of the major political parties - and he only took office in December 2005! The state of the economy has been another major worry and, although the future forecasts are far from rosy, there are signs that the plunge into recession has been avoided. The harbingers of doom have prevailed over the past 12 months and this has forced many business managers to hold back on expansion plans. Here at Ambient, we have detected a change in attitude amongst our client base. Our website is receiving record numbers of hits and enquiries for both our Consultancy and event management divisions have experience a sharp upturn since the start of the year. This seems to auger well for the future and the Ambient Team look forward to being a part of your business development plans throughout 2008. |
