All this sits atop seven hills and faces the majestic Tagus River.

Built of the banks of the Mondego River, Coimbra is one of the most important urban centres in Portugal. Six of Portugal’s kings were born in the city and in the Middle Ages it was the nation’s capital. Today, Coimbra is better known for its magnificent University. Established in 1290, it is one of the oldest in Europe.
Amongst the highlights of the tour are the University Chapel and its Baroque Library. Coimbra is a modern student city where past and present stand side by side. Amazing Roman remains, Romanesque and Manueline Churches are all within easy walking distance of a thriving commercial area.
Built on the steep bank of the Douro River, Porto is much more than the centre of the Port wine industry; it is also the undisputed capital of the north of Portugal and gateway to the Douro valley and the cultural heritage of the whole country. The city boasts numerous hotels, cafes and restaurants whilst the charm of the narrow streets of the old town has led to it being designated a World heritage city by UNESCO.
